For the 2026 harvest season, we again chose this Thunguri sun-dried coffee from Kenya. The Thunguri processing station provides coffee processing services to 1,057 smallholder farmers in surrounding villages. Meanwhile, Coffee Management Services (CMS) is also helping to improve productivity and coffee quality through training and education programs. The coffee varieties grown here are primarily SL28 and SL34, accounting for over 80%. In addition, under the auspices of the Kenya Research Centre, experimental cultivation of the Rui-ru11 and Batian varieties has also been conducted. The volcanic soil and unique microclimate conditions result in coffee beans that are plump, with low defect rates and high sugar content—qualities that provide a solid foundation for producing high-quality sun-dried coffee beans.
During cupping, the coffee exhibits a gradual unfolding of flavors reminiscent of purple grapes, pineapple-like sweetness and acidity, and a complex berry juiciness.
